Hanseatic times in the Jaani Town
16. juunil 2009
You will find the medieval spirit of the historical city centre of Tartu close to Jaani Church and Antioniuse Guild. On the stages here you can hear old music, the jingling bells of a medieval fool and watch how people used to dance in Medieval times.

Since wisdom is worth more than monetary wealth, visitors to the Hanseatic Days are invited to sharpen their skills and knowledge: participate in workshops, take a look at master classes or learn dance moves. You can test your strength and skills in medieval games and competitions. During the three days there will be around twenty different workshops in Jaani Town, more than forty performances on stage and several exhibitions related to Medieval times or the Hanseatic Days in museums. On the Artists’ and Artisans’ Street around Jaani Church there are loads of stylish merchants trading and in Jaani Church you can participate in daily and nightly Hanseatic concerts.

On Friday at midnight, when the rest of the town is still very quiet, anything can happen in Jaani Town. Then, a real Medieval market with tricks and fireworks will come to life around Jaani Church. Be careful and don’t lose your heart to a merchant or a master’s youngest daughter!

Jaani town is open:
Friday, 17 July, 18:00-23:00
Saturday, 18 July, 10:00-20:00
Sunday, 19 July, 10:00-17:00
